Art in the heart of Cilento
Located in Capaccio Paestum, Tenuta Valente is a charming villa surrounded by the lush countryside of the Cilentan Coast, in the Campania region, Southern Italy.
Rich in history, culture, and naturalistic beauty, Cilento has inspired artists through cultures and the millennia, and through our Arts Residency Program we seek to keep the flame of inspiration alive, as we are just a step from the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park and the Archaeological Park of Paestum and Velia, among the most significant and best-preserved ancient Greek sites in the Mediterranean, recognised as World Heritage Site of UNESCO in 1998.
Through the Residency Program, artists are invited to stay and work in a peaceful, bucolic environment. Here they can develop their individual projects and find inspiration through the local art scene and the beauty of Southern Italy.
A comfortable nest for the Arts
We wish to create a warm and welcoming environment where artists can focus, create, and connect. The studio is the soul of the Arts Villa: a shared 200-square-metre workspace designed to inspire collaboration, dialogue, and the development of individual projects, while fostering a sense of community among residents.
Residents are free to use the studio for their own creative projects and to take part in the artistic life of Tenuta Valente. Here, in the near future, we also aim to host workshops, seminars, presentations, and exhibitions featuring local artists as well as practitioners from across Italy.
Our Arts Villa is immersed in verdant and serene nature, with plenty of space to relax and find new inspirations. Recharge your creative energy and explore the surroundings!
The surroundings
Our Arts Villa is just a ten-minute drive from the sea of the Gulf of Salerno. The water is shallow and calm, making it ideal for families with children. The coastline is lined with pine forests and offers equipped areas for barbecues and camping.
The Archaeological Park of Paestum is only 8 km away. During the summer, concerts and theatre performances are frequently held within the archaeological park and in the surrounding area.
A minimarket is located just 800 metres from Tenuta Valente, where residents can purchase daily essentials. There are also several cafés and restaurants nearby.
For those who enjoy trekking or walking in nature, several trails begin in the nearby village of Giungano, leading into the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park.
How to get to Tenuta Valente
Naples is approximately 100 km away, while Salerno is 40 km from the Arts Villa and can be easily reached by train.
We generally recommend arriving by car for greater convenience, although some buses connect the surrounding towns.
For transfers from Paestum railway station to the residence, we are happy to pick up residents whenever possible. If we are unavailable, we can arrange a transfer service for a small additional fee.
